NGO Jagrut launches its  Ban plastic campaign to reduce uses of polythene

Since 2009 Jagrut Ngo is working hard for their dream to make the world a better place to live, and hence they have started a ban plastic campaign, in order to make the world more environment friendly and pollution-free.

After the 26/7 deluge in Mumbai – Jagrut took an initiative to address the problems caused due to the usage of Plastic bags which was one of the main reason for the disaster. During the campaign, awareness amongst people was created through media and distribution of Jute & paper bags. although now there is already a law banning plastic bags. Still, somehow we still get polythene bags from a few hawkers.

Jagrut works to create awareness amongst people about hazardous sides of plastic wastes. and in this campaign which is organized to create awareness among the public about the adverse effect of plastic usage and to make think them about stopping of its usage. they also convey people to use other substitutes of plastic.

Microplastics are plastic particles that are 5 millimetres or less in size. Some forms of plastic are even a million times smaller than a millimetre: these are nano plastics. Microplastics have been found everywhere in our environment, from the deepest ocean trenches, to both poles, and on top of the Himalayas. However, microplastics can also be found much closer to home. As microplastics are released from our sofas, carpets, curtains, and other synthetic textiles, they are omnipresent in virtually every household. Microplastics have also been found in many consumer products such as seafood, honey, beer, water, salt, fruits and vegetables.

Due to the contamination of our indoor and outdoor environment by plastics, we eat, drink and breathe plastics every day. Plastics are not biodegradable and bacteria known to cause human diseases tend to grow on the plastic surface.

In order to reduce the risk of this plastic pollution Jagrut works to create awareness amongst people about this hazardous effects. they make jute and paper bags in NGO and distribute it amongst people and by this way, they create awareness in the society and also provide a solution by providing a substitute.
