National Digital Security Conference 2024 by NCSRC: An Initiative towards Cyber security Knowledge Sharing

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, [India], December 16, 2024: The National Digital Security Conference 2024, hosted by the National Cyber Security Research Council (NCSRC) in collaboration with the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration, Tamil Nadu Open University, kicked off today with an inspiring inaugural session. This landmark event marks a significant step in equipping the next generation with essential knowledge and skills in the field of cyber security, aiming to prepare India for a digitally secure future.

The conference’s welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. N. Dhanalakshmi, who emphasized the critical importance of digital security in our interconnected world.

The keynote address by Dr. E. Khalieraaj, Director of NCSRC, shed light on India’s remarkable progress in the realm of cyber security and its ongoing efforts to build a robust digital ecosystem. Dr. Khalieraaj emphasized that this initiative aims to revolutionize knowledge-sharing among students, exposing them to the industry’s cutting-edge developments and introducing them to cyber security curricula. He stated, “By nurturing young minds and equipping them with the tools and knowledge of this rapidly growing field, we will cultivate a generation of cyber specialists to meet the pressing demands of the hour.”

Special addresses by Honorable Justice V. Ramasubramanian, Former Justice of the Supreme Court of India, and Deputy Commissioner of Police – Cybercrime Wing, Jareena Begam, underscored the importance of collaboration between legal frameworks and technological advancements in combating the evolving landscape of cybercrime. Both speakers highlighted the necessity of bridging the gap between technical expertise and legal enforcement to create a secure digital ecosystem.

The morning sessions featured illuminating talks by industry leaders. Dr. N. Subramanian, Executive Director of the Society for Electronic Transactions, shared insights into the latest advancements in electronic security. Yuvanesh E, Manager at the Reserve Bank of India, discussed innovative approaches to ensuring financial security in the digital age.

The event concluded with a strong and forward-looking announcement by Dr. E. Khalieraaj, who stated that NCSRC is set to launch a nationwide hackathon initiative in the coming days. This initiative aims to engage young talent across the country, providing them with opportunities to solve real-world cybersecurity challenges and make significant contributions to the field.
