Leaders Convene at 5th GSA’s SDG Summit to Tackle Climate Change and Sustainable Development

New Delhi: The Global Sustainability Alliance (GSA), a distinguished initiative by ET Edge, is gearing up to host its highly anticipated 5th edition SDG summit, poised to make an indelible mark in the realm of sustainable development and environmental stewardship.

The two-day event commenced today at the prestigious ITC Maurya, with the second day scheduled for September 28th at DAIC New Delhi. The summit is set to bring together a diverse and influential gathering of global changemakers, government officials, business leaders, and sustainability experts who share an unwavering dedication to championing sustainability.

With the overarching theme of “Strengthening Economies – Collaboration! Financing! Resilience!”. The summit promises to be a dynamic showcase of initiatives designed to address the pressing challenges of climate change and promote sustainable development.

These initiatives encompass a wide range of activities, including enlightening roundtable discussions and thought-provoking leadership dialogues. Together, they provide a fertile ground for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and incubating innovative solutions that can drive meaningful change on a global scale.

The summit is set to feature distinguished ministerial speakers, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation; Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Earth Sciences, Minister of State for Science and Technology, India; Lyonpo Namgay Tshering, Minister of Finance, Bhutan; and Dr. Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Education, Sri Lanka, among other notable guests.

Over the course of this immersive two-day conference, participants will delve into discussions covering macro and micro issues related to sustainability. The summit will place a particular focus on the critical areas of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Today, a distinguished panel comprising Nadir Godrej, Chairman and Managing Director of Godrej Industries; Deepali Khanna, Vice President, Asia Regional Office at The Rockefeller Foundation, Thailand; Dr. Tayeb A Kamali, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Abu Dhabi School of Management; and Kartikeya G.S, Partner at JSA, will engage in a profound discussion on the topic of “Sustainable Leadership and Corporate Business Strategies.”

Likewise, a distinguished group consisting of Geetanjali Kirloskar, Chairperson & Managing Director of Kirloskar Systems Limited; Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman & Managing Director of REC Limited; Gurdeep Singh, Chairman & Managing Director of NTPC; and Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman of JBM Group & Chairman of Linde Wiemann Gmbh, will engage in discussions focused on “Green Action and Collective Impact.”

One of the most eagerly anticipated highlights of the summit will be the pledge session, where leading businesses and conglomerates will publicly commit to contributing to a better planet and working steadfastly toward achieving Net Zero Emissions. The summit will also serve as a platform for state workshops dedicated to specific SDGs. “Flattening the Curve” – a report not just about reconditioning but unleashing innovation at scale will also be launched at the summit.
