1. Can you tell us about your journey into law and what inspired you to pursue advocacy as a career?
Ans. My journey into law was driven by a strong sense of justice and an innate desire to bring positive change through legal advocacy. From an early age, I was fascinated by how the law serves as both a protector of rights and a catalyst for social transformation. This fascination soon evolved into a calling to use the power of advocacy to stand up for those whose voices often go unheard. Over the years, my commitment to fairness and integrity has guided every step of my professional path.
2. How have you seen the legal profession evolve since you began practicing?
Ans. Over the years, I’ve witnessed the legal profession undergo a remarkable transformation from traditional courtroom advocacy to a more technology-driven, client-centric approach. Today, the focus has shifted toward transparency, speed, and digital documentation. Legal professionals are also embracing interdisciplinary learning, with law now intersecting with technology, business, and public policy in unprecedented ways. This evolution has made the profession more dynamic, but also more demanding.
3. What are some of the most challenging cases you’ve handled, and what did you learn from them?
Ans. Some of the most challenging cases I’ve handled involved complex constitutional issues and matters impacting marginalized communities. These experiences taught me the importance of resilience, meticulous preparation, and empathy. Each case reinforced my belief that law is not just about winning arguments but about ensuring that justice is served in its truest form.
4. How do you approach balancing professional ethics with client expectations in complex cases?
Ans. I firmly believe that professional ethics form the cornerstone of effective advocacy. Whenever I’m faced with a conflict between ethical principles and client expectations, I prioritize integrity and transparency. Clear communication, realistic guidance, and adherence to the rule of law ensure that my practice remains both principled and client-focused.
5. Which areas of law do you specialize in, and what draws you most to these practice areas?
Ans. My practice primarily focuses on constitutional law, criminal law, and human rights. What draws me to these areas is the profound impact they have on people’s lives and society at large. Each case presents an opportunity to defend rights, challenge injustices, and shape the interpretation of law for future generations.
6. How do you stay updated with the constantly changing legal landscape in India?
Ans. I make it a point to stay proactive about continuous learning by studying new judgments, participating in legal forums, attending workshops, and engaging with peer networks. I also value the exchange of ideas with fellow practitioners and scholars, which helps me stay aligned with both legislative updates and evolving judicial perspectives.
7. What role do you believe technology is playing in transforming the legal ecosystem today?
Ans. Technology has revolutionized the legal landscape by enhancing access, efficiency, and transparency. From e-filing and virtual hearings to AI-assisted research, technology has streamlined processes and democratized information. I believe this digital transformation has brought law closer to the people, making justice more accessible and responsive.
8. What advice would you give to young lawyers entering the profession in today’s competitive environment?
Ans. My advice to young lawyers is simple: stay curious, stay ethical, and never stop learning. The legal profession rewards perseverance and integrity. I encourage newcomers to focus on developing strong research, communication, and analytical skills while remembering that compassion is just as crucial as competence in the pursuit of justice.
9. How do you ensure access to justice for clients who may not have strong financial means?
Ans. I’ve always believed that justice should not be a privilege reserved for the wealthy. Through pro bono initiatives, collaborations with NGOs, and community legal aid efforts, I strive to ensure that marginalized individuals have access to quality representation. For me, advocacy is not just a profession but a social responsibility.
10. What’s next for you? Are there any reforms, initiatives, or causes you’re currently passionate about?
Ans. I am currently focused on promoting legal literacy and advocating for reforms that make the judicial process more inclusive and efficient. I’m also passionate about mentoring young lawyers and engaging in policy initiatives that strengthen gender equality and access to justice. My long-term vision is to contribute to a legal ecosystem that is fair, transparent, and empathetic to every individual it serves.
