Jaipur (Rajasthan), [India], July 12, 2024: Remember the much-needed vacation you came across while scrolling through social media? The clean-blue beaches, snow-capped mountains, aesthetic resorts, and budget-friendly hostels all make you feel a mix of jealousy and anxiety, better known as travel FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). But what if there was a social platform that could fix this and make travelling easier for everyone?
Enter Polartern, a brand new travel tech startup launched by Rishab Agarwal, a seasoned traveller with a hunger to make a transformation in the way we explore the world. Inspired by the incredible migratory journey of the Arctic Tern bird, Polartern is a social network built for travellers’ community, authenticity, and stress-free travel planning.
Polartern Builds a Community for Every Traveler
Rishab’s journey to Polartern was different from your typical corporate climb. Following a fruitful tenure at Bain & Company, a leading global consulting firm, he decided to swap spreadsheets for wide-open spaces. He set out on a 15-week life-altering adventure across six Central and Southeast Asian countries, immersing himself in diverse cultures and collecting stories for his upcoming book, “Why I don’t like to travel, while I travel.”
For Rishab, this trip was more than just a vacation; it was an exploration of the true essence of travel, with all its joys and challenges, which is why his book has that title.
Inspired by his experiences and insights from interviewing nearly 100 Europeans about their travel related challenges, Rishab had an idea for a platform that catered to a specific niche to start with: first-time travellers, solo adventurers on a budget, and those planning career breaks. He partnered with a like-minded co-founder, a travel enthusiast with a knack for road trip planning, and a super skilled CTO whose technical know-how brought Polartern to life.
Curing FOMO with Authentic Connections
Unlike the curated feeds of traditional social media that often trigger FOMO, Polartern is engineered with real-time updates and genuine travel stories. Users can connect with fellow explorers, share genuine experiences, and find inspiration without the pressure of picture-perfect moments.
Polartern takes the stress out of trip planning. Users can discover detailed itineraries curated for specific destinations, budgets, durations, and travel styles (solo, family, etc.). Each carefully crafted plan includes breakdowns of activities, accommodations, transportation, and dining, allowing for effortless customisation.
The user-friendly interface of Polartern allows travellers to connect with others who share their interests and travel desires. This fosters a sense of community, enabling users to collaborate on itineraries, share experiences, and even split costs, making travel a truly social experience.
Travel lovers are invited to participate in the beta testing phase of Polartern, which will launch shortly. This is your chance to be among the first to experience a social platform designed to transform travel planning, foster authentic connections, and eliminate FOMO.
