Asian Literary Society organized ALS CARAVAN 2022-UAE in Dubai

On 13th April 2022, the Asian Literary Society (an initiative by ALSphere Foundation) organized “ALS CARAVAN 2022-UAE” at India Club, Dubai. Asian Literary Society’s this program was aimed to promote and celebrate the rich heritage of UAE’s literature, art, and culture.

The day-long event began with an inaugural address by Mr. Manoj Krishnan (Founder, Asian Literary Society). He stressed upon the need of promoting the literature and art of all Asian countries to enhance cross-cultural understanding of people from the continent. Ms. Nisha Tandon (Chapter Head, ALS UAE) highlighted the grandeur of UAE’s literature, art, and culture in her address.

Guest speakers Ms. Kusum Dutta (Social Worker), Ms. Reema Mahajan (Founder, Indian Women in Dubai-IWD), Ms. Alba Rose (Founder of Determined & Dramatic), and Ms. Anju Bhatia (Founder & CEO Futurewise Education) shared their experiences and brought to light various unique aspects of UAE’s art, culture, and literature.

In ALS CARAVAN 2022-UAE “Ebbing Echoes- An Anthology of Articles on Lesser-Known Languages & Art Forms of Indigenous Communities of Asia” compiled and edited by Mr. Manoj Krishnan and “Myriad of Dreams” written by Ms. Nisha Tandon were also released.

The winners of the ALS CARAVAN UAE WRITING CONTEST 2022 were also announced at this event. This contest was organized for UAE-based writers from all age groups.

Ms. Harshita Nanda (author) and Ms. Nisha Tandon (Chapter Head, ALS UAE) spoke about “Challenges and Opportunities in the UAE Book Publishing Industry” in a panel discussion organized at this event.

An exciting highlight of the “ALS CARAVAN 2022-UAE” program was the soulful performance by singer Ms. Varsha Jayaraman. It was followed by poetry recitations by  Mr. Manoj Krishnan, Ms. Shivpriya, Ms. Ketki Raina,  Ms. Nisha Tandon, and many UAE-based poets and writers.

The ALS CARAVAN 2022-UAE program was moderated by Ms. Nisha Tandon and Ms. Ketki Raina.

The program ended with the felicitation of all the participating writers and artists by Ms. Shivpriya (Director, ALSphere Foundation) and a vote of thanks.

It was heartening to note the warm and positive response to the “ALS CARAVAN 2022-UAE” program from all the invitees, participants, and audience members.
