Today, March 22, marks the 111th anniversary of Bihar’s formation. On this significant occasion, Bihar Diwas celebrations take a special turn as two remarkable individuals from the state—Manish Jha and Ranapratap Singh—receive appreciation from the Honourable Chairman of Bihar State, Shri Awadh Narayan Singh.
Manish Jha: A World Record-Breaking Mountaineer
Manish Jha, also known as Manya, has made a name for himself as India’s fastest climber and a world record holder in mountaineering. A resident of Madhubani, Bihar, Jha’s achievements have brought immense pride to the state. His extraordinary accomplishments include scaling the Kanamo Peak (19,723 feet) in a record-breaking 11 hours and 38 minutes, setting a new benchmark in mountaineering. He also summited the Kedarkantha Peak (12,500 feet) in just 7 hours and 50 minutes, and the Brahmatal Peak (13,100 feet) in 8 hours and 30 minutes.
Apart from mountaineering, Manish is an ultra runner, wildlife expert, independent pilot for paragliding and skydiving, survival trainer, and rescue trainer. He is also an accomplished author, having written his autobiography, The View from Where I Stand. His multifaceted expertise extends to his recognition in the field of force and rescue training.
For his exceptional contributions, Manish Jha was honored with the prestigious Bihar Ratna award by the state government. His passion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence continue to inspire aspiring mountaineers and adventurers worldwide.
Ranapratap Singh: The Record-Breaking Trekker
Ranapratap Singh, a trekker hailing from Baniyapur, Bihar, has etched his name in the world record books. Known for his grit and determination, he set a world record by trekking up and down the Gomukh Glacier (14,640 feet, 36 km) in an astonishing 7 hours and 53 minutes. This incredible feat showcases his physical endurance and commitment to mountaineering.
In addition to his achievements in trekking, Ranapratap is also a national kabaddi champion and a professional physical trainer. His versatile skill set and athletic prowess have made him a well-rounded athlete, inspiring others to push the boundaries of physical fitness and endurance.
