New Delhi [India], March 16, 2026: The Udayjyot Music Foundation organised a Press Meet and Panel Discussion on the theme “Music: From its Origin to the Modern Era” at Kerala House on Friday. The event brought together distinguished personalities from the fields of Indian classical music, broadcasting, and musicology, creating an engaging platform to discuss the evolution and contemporary relevance of Indian music.
The esteemed panel featured Satish Nambudiripad, Director General of Doordarshan; internationally acclaimed Santoor maestro Pt. Abhay Rustum Sopori; eminent Carnatic vocalist Sudha Raghuraman; and noted musicologist Pt. Vijay Shankar Mishra.
During the discussion, the panelists shared valuable perspectives on the origins of Indian music, its philosophical and cultural foundations, and its progression through various historical phases into the modern era. The dialogue highlighted how traditional forms of music continue to influence contemporary musical expressions while maintaining their spiritual and cultural depth.
A key highlight of the event was the official release of the brochure for the upcoming “Raag Ranjani Music Festival 2026.” The festival is envisioned as a grand celebration of Indian classical music, aiming to bring together renowned maestros as well as emerging young artists, thereby strengthening the cultural fabric and encouraging the next generation of musicians.
