With Christmas and New Year around the corner, Kala Srishti—India’s largest virtual hub for artisans—is seeing incredible traction across the country with its “Celebrate with Purpose” campaign. Launched at the onset of the festive season, this initiative has quickly gained popularity, encouraging consumers to choose gifts that are meaningful, handcrafted, and rooted in tradition and sustainability. The campaign is redefining how people celebrate, offering artisans a larger stage to showcase their craft to an enthusiastic, conscious audience.
Highlighting the rich variety of Indian handicrafts, the campaign features over 30 artisan-led stores from across India. Shoppers can find Mysore’s beautiful rosewood inlay work, the detailed blue pottery and Kota Doria weaves of Rajasthan, luxurious brocade textiles from Uttar Pradesh, and Assam’s eco-friendly jute and water hyacinth creations. Each piece celebrates India’s cultural heritage, making every gift a story of artistry and purpose.
Through Kala Srishti, these traditional artisans are reaching a broader consumer base, bringing attention to India’s unique artistry while sustaining their communities. For artisans like Mohan from Mysore, whose “MK Enterprises” specializes in rosewood inlay, this initiative has been a remarkable opportunity to reach new audiences. “Through the ‘Celebrate with Purpose’ campaign, our craft is being appreciated and valued on a scale we had only dreamed of,” he shares, emphasizing the campaign’s significance in uplifting local artistry.
In Mysore, artists such as Mohan and Sriniwas have gained new recognition for their intricate rosewood inlay creations, a traditional art form that carries a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, making it unique to the region. “Kala Srishti’s platform has allowed us to share our rosewood inlay with an appreciative audience, helping us carry forward this cultural legacy,” says Bharath from Kalatattva. In Uttar Pradesh, the campaign has given a boost to artisans working with brocade textiles, Dari weaving, and Gulabi Meenakari. Artisans like Balram Das, a Gulabi Meenakari expert, have welcomed the increased visibility and support for their art. “Every sale through Kala Srishti helps preserve our craft and encourages younger artisans to learn and continue the tradition,” shares Anil Kumar, a brocade artisan whose work has received newfound appreciation through the campaign.
Similarly, in Rajasthan, artisans specializing in blue pottery and Kota Doria weaving are seeing their crafts resonate with a nationwide audience. Artisans like Ramnarayan Prajapat and Iftikhar Hussain have praised the campaign for shining a spotlight on their art forms. “Through Kala Srishti, our blue pottery has reached homes far beyond Rajasthan, bringing appreciation and recognition to our craft,” says Prajapat, who values the campaign’s potential to keep traditional crafts alive in a modern context. Meanwhile, Assam’s artisans are making a mark with sustainable crafts, from Maya Das’s water hyacinth products to Manoj Barman’s eco-friendly cane furniture. “With Kala Srishti, we’re able to share our sustainable craftsmanship with people across India who value authenticity,” says Das, noting how the platform has amplified her work’s visibility.
Kala Srishti by VOSMOS is redefining the art of shopping by creating a fair-trade marketplace that directly connects artisans with global consumers, ensuring they’re compensated fairly. By combining advanced technology with a direct-to-consumer approach, Kala Srishti brings India’s rich craftsmanship closer to modern consumers, helping artisans expand their reach and build lasting businesses.
Meenakshi Mehta, Director of Communications at VOSMOS, shares the essence of their latest campaign: “The ‘Celebrate with Purpose’ campaign is changing how people think about gifting. Supporting artisans and choosing thoughtfully crafted products not only preserves our cultural heritage but also provides these communities with sustainable incomes. This is about making a real difference, bridging the beauty of traditional craftsmanship with today’s market demands.”
The “Celebrate with Purpose” campaign has grown beyond a festive push—it has become a movement connecting people to India’s vibrant artisan legacy. Each handcrafted item tells a story of artistry, dedication, and resilience, making every celebration a tribute to cultural pride and sustainable craftsmanship.
